SHKODRA
Shkodra ( Albanian also Shkodër ) is a city in northern Albania . It lies between Lake Shkodra and the rivers Kir , Drin and Buna .
The 2400-year-old city has always been the regional administrative center. Shkodra is traditionally the cultural center of northern Albania. Many Shkodran cultural, political and social figures have also been of national importance in the past. We owe them, for example, the first photographs that were taken in Albania or artistic works that have shaped Albanian national consciousness to the present day. The cultural and historical heritage of Shkodra is considered to be one of the most important not only in Albania itself, but in all areas inhabited by Albanians in the neighboring countries as well.
Malesia e Madhe
Malësia e Madhe ( Albanian also Malësi e Madhe and Malësia for short) is a region of the Albanian Alps in the Albanian - Montenegrin border area. In the "Kanun" it is referred to as the territory of the Kuqi, Hoti, Gruda, Kastrati and Kelmendi tribes.
Translated, the name means Great Mountain Country . Although the region was part of the Ottoman Empire for 500 years , Catholics still make up around three quarters of the population today . Also the kanun , the old Albanian customary law , has had a revival after the end of communism in Albania. The power of the state repeatedly has difficulties asserting itself in tribal society.
