Albania is undoubtedly the most unknown jewel of the Adriatic. Located on strategic routes connecting the West and the East, Albania has been since ancient times the heart of the greed of the great Mediterranean powers who have left their mark.

Northern Albania is one of the three regions of Albania. This ethnographic territory is sometimes called Gegëria or Gegnia which also includes parts of the Albanian-inhabited territories of Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
The term usually refers to the northern half of the country inhabited by the Gegs, who mainly live in the mountains north of the Shkumbin River.

Central Albania is one of the three regions of Albania. It consists of two counties: Tirana County and Elbasan County.
Several other provinces in Central Albania are often included in spoken usage, notably Kavaja and Shijaku, and, less consistently, Vora, Kameza, Peqini, Belshi and Librazhdi.
Southern Albania is one of the three regions of Albania. This ethnographic territory is sometimes called Toskëria which also includes the former Albanian-inhabited territories of Greece known among Albanians as Cameria, as well as the Albanian-inhabited territories in southwestern North Macedonia.
